Sitting in Nanaimo
Alright, so here I am in Nanaimo popping in on Liz and Chris' place. They are getting back from Europe in about a week. Hopefully they will have brought something for me with them. I just wanted to include some pictures from my Okanangan visit. So below, here they are!
A view from the top of Knox Mountain, looking across the bridge over Okanagan Lake.
The view from Cedar Creek Estate Winery
The view from the patio at NK'MIP Cellars, where we ate lunch.
The Grotto at NK'MIP, where they age their red wine in oak barrels.
The view into the vineyard at Sumac Ridge Estate Winery in Summerland. It used to be the fairway for the first hole of a gold course, before Sumac Ridge bought the course and started the winery.
This is a picture of the Barrel Cellar at Mission Hill Family Estate Winery. It is underground, and quite a dramatic site. It was just a little too polished for my liking, like a "Disneyland of Wineries." The Barrel Cellar is stunning, but you just know that there is a warehouse somewhere stacked high with barrels and lit with fluorescent lights, where they actually make wine. It was stunning there, but a little fake.
Above ground at Mission Hill. They have a stunning site. The entrance to the Barrel Cellar is underneath the bell tower.
This is one of the cutest dogs I have ever met. His name is Tux (for Tuxedo) and he is on the sweetest dogs ever. I wanted to take him home, but Rowan's mom wouldn't part with him.
